What is Hyperhidrosis?

Excessive sweating is a condition that affects 1-2% of the population (about one person in every 200), affecting both male and females. It is not a temporary condition and can cause people great deal of embarrassment. Fortunately, this can be successfully treated with botulinum toxin injections. Sweating is one of the most important ways the body loses heat; however, people with excessive sweating produce sweat in amounts far greater than required to control their temperature. Patients have described how the treatment can be liberating after suffering in silence for years, unaware that this condition can be successfully treated.

What to expect from Hyperhidrosis

An extremely fine, short needle is used to inject the product into bilateral armpit areas, this may cause some discomfort, but is usually easily tolerated. The entire procedure should not take more than 30 minutes.
Excessive sweating is reduced by Botulinum Toxin Type A, blocking the chemical messages to the sweat glands thereby reducing the amount of perspiration. The treatment is temporary and depending on the patient the benefit of treatment will last between 6- 8 months.
After the treatment you may notice slight swelling and redness, this tends to be minimal and most patients return to normal activity immediately afterwards. Full aftercare advice will be provided by your practitioner.

Who will administer the treatment?

Hyperhidrosis treatments are carried out by experienced medical professionals who are dedicated to safe practice and are specialists in this field. After treatment you may notice some slight redness and swelling but this tends to be minimal and most patients can return to normal activity immediately afterwards. Your practitioner will advise you about your post treatment care and will give you an advice leaflet to take home with you.
