How does the treatment work?
Botulinum Toxin Type A is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium Botulinum Bacterium. Botox works by blocking a chemical called acetylcholine, responsible for transmitting electrical impulses which cause muscle contraction.

What results can be expected?

The Botox treatment normally takes approximately 30 minutes. The effect from treatment normally activates from 48-72 hours post treatment, reaching maximum effect at approximately 14 days.

How long does the treatment last?

The results from Botox wrinkle relaxing injections normally last for approximately 3-4 months, fading naturally and gradually and when this is observed, you may opt to have another treatment. However not within 12 weeks of the initial treatment.
Once the effects of the toxin has worn off, there is no lasting effect and the muscle returns to normal activity.

Do Botox injections hurt?

Botox injections are performed using a very fine needle and are relatively painless, therefore anaesthesia is not necessary.

What can you expect after the treatment?

For six hours after treatment we advise that you avoid exercise, hot baths or alcohol as these can increase blood flow and dilute the effect. It is important to avoid touching the injected area, including applying makeup, as this may actually push the product beyond the intended area.
